Austra is finally making her return. Today the Toronto artist Katie Stelmanis is reviving her project with the new single "Risk It," marking her first new material since 2017's Future Politics.
The track has arrived both in audio form and via a new video. The clip was directed by Jasmin Mozzafari, who had this to say about the "Risk It" video:
I wanted to construct a narrative piece that takes place over the course of one night, focusing on a protagonist caught at the inevitable crossroads that exist when love falls apart. Ultimately, I saw 'Risk It' as a song about the fear of being vulnerable. At the beginning, the protagonist tries to do anything to evade this feeling; by the end, they are forced to face it.

"Risk It" was produced by Rodaidh McDonald and Joseph Shabason, with the song featuring kamanche (Kurdish violin) and cello from Canadian duo Kamancello and percussion from c_RL.
So far, there is no official word of an official album follow-up to Future Politics, but we're guessing an announcement is right around the corner, especially since Austra has a series of tour dates coming up.
